Nike’s footwear collection, strictly for women, inspired by an iconic female athlete is now on the market
As in many sayings the strength of a woman flourishes most when it is undermined.
In the month of October, Nike presented to the world the first ever female footwear collection, inspired by women who break boundaries.
One in particular is Joan Samuelson who in 1984 made history by completing a 1,500 meter race, which was declared as a race women could not endure. The Los Angeles athlete, praised throughout the world ignited a revolution when she ran the race in less than 3 hours.
Her motto “There is no finish line” inspired Nike to recognize other Joan Samuelson’s of the world with footwear gear, manufactured for great performance.
Calling it the Nike Beautiful X Powerful Collection, there is a combination of appeal among other
features, to compliment any woman. Inspired by the iconic race, the footwear designs come in variety.
The speed stripe and premium leather detailed pairs landed on the market on October 6, via the SNKRS app as well at all global retailers. The jacquard-woven material addition to the collection will be available for purchase as of December 1.
In a statement, Nike spoke on the reason behind a collection strictly for women.” Nike’s dedication to female athletes has constantly grown since the days of the Nike’s Women’s runs. The international race series has inspired the Nike Women movement to evolve, through supporting and celebrating female athletes across all sports,” said Nike South Africa’s Communications Manager.
