Rage Expo 2016
There isn’t any other South African gaming expo that comes close to rivaling the Rage Expo that is held every year at the Ticketpro Dome, Gauteng. For fourteen years in a row, has every geek, gamer and everyone with an interest in technology from all corners of South African traveled to the beautiful Gauteng to take part in the annually held gaming event.
From the 7th of October, right through to the 9th belonged to the gamer. The Rage Expo is famous for its revealing and launching of new games on all formats. This year there was something for everyone to look forward to. For the superhero fans out there, they had Batman: Return to Arkham. If you have a love for warfare then the new Gears of War 4 or Battlefield 1 would be just the perfect game for you. Other games like Dishonored 2, Final Fantasy 15 and Rise of the Tomb Raider were also some of the new games featured at the expo.
With a range of different things to see and buy, it was certain that no one would leave empty handed. Everyone was drawn in by the stalls showcasing all the fascinating drawings and paintings of beloved gaming and superhero characters like Deadpool and Iron Man. The artistic talents within Gauteng could surely be seen with all the different types of artwork on display at the Rage Expo.
The Rage Expo wasn’t the only event that took place at the Ticketpro Dome. Alongside the expo was the Rage Lan. A gaming event that had thousands of computer gamers become part of a three-day gaming experience. The Rage Lan consisted of both fun and competitive atmospheres. With competitive games being played like Dota and Counter Strike it was without a doubt that the top gaming teams in South Africa would attend like Bravado Gaming, White Rabbit Gaming and Aperture Gaming. At the end of the long weekend, White Rabbit’s Dota team came out on top by placing first and winning the first ever Digital Gaming League Masters.
With the Rage Expo and Rage Lan happening under the same roof, it was one of the most anticipated and enjoyable events this year! With delicious foods and beverages available all around the dome everyone could get a bite to eat and be hydrated all day, every day. It really didn’t matter if gaming and technology are your passion or not because a fun time was guaranteed. With all the excitement the expo had to offer it’s impossible not to look forward to 2017’s Rage Expo happening in October around the weekend of the 8th.Source: Riaan Beslaar
