The Queen of Comedy, Tumi Morake.
South Africa’s leading lady in laughter, Tumi Morake brought her marvelous talents to Silverstar on the 25th of February. The venue for her performance was none other than The Globe, where numerous of spectacular shows are held from all sorts of varieties.
With the show being sold out in just a couple of days, it was certain that Tumi Morake is a household name when it comes to comedy. Tumi Morake, being such an inspiring artists is the complete package. Having what it takes to have a crowd rolling over in laughter, she isn’t just funny but she has the looks and finesse as well.
The evening kicked off with everyone enjoying a delicious beverage and socializing. With so many lovers of comedy, it’s without a doubt that new friends and contacts were made. When the start of the show was announced, the seats began to fill up one by one until the whole venue was filled with an audience hungry for laughter. Another greatly talented comedian, Khanyisa Bunu warmed the crowd up. After her quick, but fantastic performance, we were a little sad to see her leave. Luckily it was time for the Queen herself to grace us with her appearance. As the crowd waited in awe, Tumi Morake made one incredible entrance. As she danced herself onto stage everyone could see that this show was going to be hard to forget.
When the music and dancing stopped, we got a taste of her comedy. The show was going on for just a matter of minutes before we could see why her style of comedy is so popular and enjoyable. What made this such an incredible performance was how Tumi made us all feel part of the show. How she interacted with everyone was one big treat. The front seats provided the best view but it came with a cost. Sitting in front had Tumi’s attention focused on everyone in the front seats, even with us being in her first line of sight we still enjoyed every second of the show and Tumi still had as all in tears from laughing.
Tumi Morake’s style of comedy is what I personally think is what South Africa needs more of. The issues she brings up is what we need to look more closely at in South Africa. Discuss the everyday problems we face on national television and it goes without consideration, but address it in a comedy show and have hundreds of people’s attention fixed on that. Tumi Morake’s style of comedy is what can cure a lot of troublesome issues in today’s life. No wonder the saying, “Laughter is the best medicine” is so popular because it’s the truth.
Watching a Tumi Morake stand-up comedy show is certainly a must do. You haven’t laughed until you laughed with Tumi Morake. Follow her on social media to be sure you don’t miss out on anything and remember there is still so much more that awaits you at Silverstar this 2017.
