Are You Stressing out?
We are halfway through the year; you haven’t achieved half the goals on your list. You start to panic, feel like you are failing yourself and soon enough you stop eating right or you constantly can’t find the keys in your hand. These might be signs of stress; a condition we throw around so much we don’t consider it a mental illness at most. Some stress is beneficial; in small doses it can help accomplish tasks. Stress is the body’s reaction to harmful situations whether they’re real or perceived.
Causes of stress are hard to pin down as different people react differently even to the same situation; you are failing an exam might give you panic attacks while your friend can simple re-direct and move on easily. Regardless there are common signs and symptoms to look out for whenever you are feeling a little bit off .Luckily our bodies are made of multiple cells, organs and hormones which will send you signals that something is bothering you on an upscale level than usual.
The emotional symptoms include being easily agitated moody, overwhelmed, difficulty relaxing and/or isolating yourself . Physically you may experience low energy levels, headaches chest pains, insomnia, lack of sexual desire, a ring in your ears even. Loss of appetite, procrastination, increased use of alcohol or drugs are behavioral signs of a stress person.
Do not despair there are a few ways one can reduce their stress levels; the very first tip is to acknowledge that you are not feeling like yourself anymore. Document the emotions, writing is an ancient technique of releasing emotions or talk to an object.
If you don’t have one already, you might want to start an exercise routine to sweat out the negative emotions crowding your mind and create space for more positive and progressive thoughts. Something the clutter around you makes it hard not to be stressed so, do clean your physical environment as that has influence on your mental environment too. It cannot be said enough; eat healthier; sleep adequately and keep hydrated. A healthy body carries a healthy mind; and we all know that a healthy mind is quick to handle things and leaves little room for negative situations to escalate and cause you stress. If all fails, schedule to see a doctor or visit your nearest clinic before your stress turns into something more chronic like depression.
