Job cuts and retrenchment saw headlines for over 10,000 positions across South Africa in 2019. These are only the reported numbers as small businesses are usually the hardest hit during tough economic times. There is not only socioeconomic inequality running rampant in South Africa but there is just as much in the business world, and the gap is widening. This is something core Buntu Majaja’s business journey and heart.

Buntu Majaja’s interest in business sprung during his varsity years when he started several businesses with his schoolmates, from running a branding supplier to an events management business at the University of Pretoria. Regardless of a Chemical Engineering background, he was always invested in the uplifting and growth of entrepreneurship to a point where he furthered his studies by getting a Business Management Post- graduate qualifications at GIBS and a Master’s degree in Management of Entrepreneurship and New Venture Creation at Wits Business School.

His humble background contrasted by the unjust realities of the South African economy challenged him as an individual to forego the comfort of a management consultant salary to become actively involved in breaking the cycles of inequality, the best way he knew how. This was to work with entrepreneurs and build digital solutions that would enable their start-ups’ success. His personal experiences while working with over a thousand business owners led him to writing his book STARTING YOUR STARTUP IN 90 DAYS alongside Sizwe Mase.

In the book, the reader gets step by step guides on how to start a business, solutions to common challenges that any upcoming entrepreneur is bound to come across. It is based on tried and tested methods, refined processes and solely interested in giving an entrepreneur support through the first 90days of building a business with longevity and growth.
