Cape Town’s own ZiaMay has collaborated with producer and hitmaker, Howard Edward aka hEproducedit, from Cosher Studios, on her new song “High”.
Inspired by the shores of the Atlantic and Indian oceans, “High” is a cool, contemporary radio single.
This is ZiaMay’s first official single release. Producer Howard Edward has in the past worked with other talented stars from the Mother City including Jimmy Nevis, Chad Saaiman, Janice, Timothy de Monk and many more.
“If you’ve ever had your fingers burnt, you’ll know how difficult it is to dip your feet back in again and throw caution to the wind.” says ZiaMay. “This analogy works for anything. A new love, a new job or taking the leap to do anything that scares us. Literally, the lyrics refer to love, but figuratively, the listener gets to decide how to interpret it. This song is for everyone who needs a little inspiration to get out there, trust their decisions and swim even when they are out of their depth. I really hope listeners enjoy listening to the song as much as we enjoyed creating it.”
ZiaMay adds: “In difficult times, you just need music that is able to transport you, and this song is reminiscent of carefree, summer days by the ocean. It draws an analogy between the turbulence, beauty and depth of the ocean… and that of letting go and falling in love.
Says Howard Edward, “I try to go with the way a song feels, the emotions it evokes… and when it feels right, we develop it from there. The sounds and elements we used worked well for the dreamy vocals and melodies of ZiaMay.”
Howard Edward’s previous hits include “Hey Jimmy” for Jimmy Nevis, Timothy de Monk’s “Keep You UP”, Chad Saaiman’s “Are You Down” and many more.
ZiaMay concludes, “I’m in awe of the way High was produced, with such an unforgettable beat! I’m definitely very excited to share High. And this is just the beginning. I’m sure as I go along, my sound will evolve, but for now, I’m really proud of our little number”
