Cell C Hands Over Funds Raised For Breast Cancer Survivors!
It is often expressed that a kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal, this has been a testament as on Tuesday, 7 march 2017, Cell C handed over a cheque for a whooping R100 000 to the Reach for Recovery’s ‘Ditto Project’. The money raised from the prestigious 2016 Cell C Playing for Pink Ladies Invitational Polo, will go towards providing women who have had mastectomies after being diagnosed with breast cancer with prostheses.
“Cell C has a strong focus on the empowerment of women in South Africa and the polo event aligns itself with so many of our objectives. While the event itself and delights, the real objective of this initiative is to create awareness and raise funds for Reach for Recovery and the wonderful work they do” said Suzette van der Merwe who is the Managing Executives of the Cell C Foundation.
The stunning Miss South Africa 2017 finalists, who are preparing for the Miss South Africa pageant which will take place on March 26 at Sun City, attended the handover and listened to the inspiring stories of the survivors. They were moved to be able to make an impact on the lives of women in need. Reach for Recovery helps women regain some of the self-esteem they’ve been deprived of by breast cancer and are all delighted to be supported in the invaluable work they do with breast cancer survivors.
Sandra Strydom from Reach for Discovery regional representative for Gauteng South said: “We are so grateful to Cell C for this much needed funding. The women who cannot afford to have reconstructive surgery have their self image restored with the fitted prostheses that we can provide.”
“While the day is full of glitz and glamour, the true aim of Cell C is to support breast cancer survivors through Reach for Recovery’s Ditto Project. This year we doubled the funds raised in 2015 and we look forward to supporting this worthy cause in 2017” says event organiser, Edith Venter.
The next Cell C Playing for Pink Ladies Invitational Polo will take place at the Inanda Club on Saturday 28 October 2017.
