Children deserve to be loved unconditionally.
Every single life matters, beautiful in the eyes of a society or not, smart or not so smart but the fact is every single child is a blessing.
As cliché as it may sound, children are really the future of tomorrow, our doctors, teachers, president and so on and the greatest legacy one can pass on to one’s children is not the materialistic thing or money but rather a legacy of faith and character.
Children are great imitators so give them something valuable to imitate rather than exposing them to things that are not good for them. So many people have become so much ignorant to what they do, talk about, listen to and watch in the presence of the little ones.
It is quite scary that we have lots and lots of grown up taking and sharing images and videos of the little ones mimicking what they see – smoking, drinking or trying to practise adultery on the streets, their homes, day care or at any corner of the world and while we are laughing about it instead of calling them to order or reprimanding their wrong doing.
We are always the first to preach how want our kids grow up, taking them to the best school and be the perfect epitome of a well raised kid forgetting that it takes a community to bring up a child. You as a parent can only do much to a certain point but as long as our neighbours, care givers in day care and teachers in schools etc continue to capture and share images and videos of precious souls doing unpleasant things we are not going any doing any better.
Most of us know that whatever it is being put out there – internet (Social Network) will forever be there and cannot be taken out. So long as we have the mind-set of “that is not my child” – a ‘bystander effect’ instead of reprimanding the wrong doing of the young, we will somehow live suffer the consequences. Yes it might not be now but 10 years down the line that kid will be bitter and all he would want to do is revenge in any form, it can bullying your child at school, raping, stealing from the community to name a few.
Imagine how would you feel if you were a 5 year old and there are videos of you that were posted on the internet touching or playing with your fellow mate’s private part because you thought that is the right thing to do. Then 10 years down the line; at the peak of adolescent stage were exploring often becomes the “it thing “ to do and such video are being pulled out, start resurfacing to your own attention. Only the brave will be able to make it to school without losing self-confidence, ignoring being labelled and judged, turning into a laughing matter, bullying others and give in to substance abuse.
What message are we sending out there? That it is okay to hurt other people? Maybe time and again we should revisit Children’s Right because clearly they are not protected from maltreatment, neglect, abuse or degradation. Our actions evidently place risk at the child’s well-being educational, health (physical, mental or spiritual), moral and social development.
Those kids are more likely to turn out to be seeking attention in the wrong way by being aggressive, unfriendly and only a few will be able to pull through. Remember not everyone comes from a good, loving family and they receive all the care a child needs, so schools and day care are actually the happy place they can be at least be at. This act of posting images and videos of the little one needs to come to an end. Take care of the little ones, they are the living message we send to time we will not see.
