Cresta wins silver in the 2018 Footprint Marketing Award
Cresta Shopping Centre was awarded a silver award for its 2017 Charity Tree campaign, in the Community Relations category, at the 2018 Footprint Marketing Awards. The winners were announced at a ceremony held during the 22nd Annual Congress, at the Durban ICC on Wednesday, 17 October 2018.
This award is a testament to Cresta’s continuous involvement in helping the community that supports it. The Charity Tree project was part of Cresta’s Annual Festive Campaign which is centered on a major CSI drive and created to aid shoppers to give back to the community. The Festive Charity Tree campaign doubled up as a reading corner for younger shoppers, and created an accessible space for shoppers to donate new and previously loved books. Over 5000 books were received, and in February 2018, these books were donated to the Tshepo Community Development Initiative – a local organisation less than two kilometres from the Centre.

Spec-Savers handover
As part of Cresta’s CSI initiatives, in September 2018, the Centre partnered with eye care specialists Spec-Savers and the Tshepo Community Development Initiative (TCDI) to provide test frames and lenses (at a minimal cost) giving the gift of sight to the community of Windsor, North of Johannesburg. The handover, held during Eye Care Awareness Month (23 September to 18 October), was a supportive drive to educate the broader public on the importance of eye health.

Fashion It Forward handover
At the 2018 Cresta Lifestyle Fair, we collected over 400 previously loved items of clothes from shoppers. The casual donations will find new homes through the Tshepo Development Initiative. With the help of Harambe Youth Employment Accelerator, the formal clothes will be donated to job seekers as they get ready to go for interviews as a sustainable means of helping the community.
