Dangerous Diet Soda.
The process of dieting usually involves the consumption of certain food and beverages as part of the goal of either losing or gaining weight. While most people avoid beverages that contain caffeine and high levels of sugar, your plan should never include diet soda as a substitute for the real thing, since it can be very dangerous to your overall health after an extended period of consumption.
There have been numerous studies conducted over the years which link diet sodas to various ailments such as weight gain, Diabetes and Heart problems. More recently, the beverage has been found to increase the chances of Dementia and Strokes in those who consume it.
Artificial sweeteners in diet sodas may sooth your ‘sweet tooth’ carvings without the calories but your body is then tricked in to believing it is receiving real food, which then leaves your digestive system confused. When you have the real thing, your body is unsure of how to respond and process the sugar, and therefore does not release the hormone which regulates blood sugar, and blood pressure.
The sweet artificial taste also activates the release of Insulin which triggers hunger and cravings for sugar (this is also triggered by the ‘reward centre’ in your brain) These are the reasons why people put on more weight than ever before.
The societal norm that diet soda is much healthier than regular soda must be eradicated since the former puts your health at serious risk. If you are already on a diet or intend to start one in the future, rather try to cut down your consumption of regular soda than causing irreparable damage to yourself.
