DURBAN FASHION FAIR MODELS GETTING FIT FOR THE RAMP!
For four days, from September 25th to 28th , the Durban ICC and surrounds will be transformed into a fashion extravaganza as some of the city’s hottest designers and models take part in the annual Durban Fashion Fair.
After doing an open casting call earlier this year for “aspiring models” who do not belong to an agency and wanting to be “discovered” within the greater eThekwini Municipality, the judges narrowed down the 1000s hopefuls that were auditioned to 30 aspiring young models.
This year, a third category of models – the plus size category – was introduced.
But being a model is not easy, and these “inexperienced models” have now started on the annual DFF bootcamp programme” that has been designed to gear them up for the big runway day! The excitement is building and preparations are in full swing.
“This is the eighth instalment of the annual Durban Fashion Fair presented by the eThekwini Municipality. This investment by the Municipality aims to improve the skills of aspiring models and trains them in all aspects of modelling, teaching them how to walk on the runway alongside professional models, all about etiquette at photographic sessions and educating them on how to keep fit and healthy”, said Sindi Shangase who is the programme manager for the Business Support, Tourism and Markets Unit. The focus is on functional training that incorporates strength training, body weights and aerobics until the show takes place at the ICC, she added.
Tickets will be on sale from mid – July at webtickets.co.za.
