From Nurse to Film Maker (Sandile Shange).
Sandile Shange is founder of Sandlisizwe production, a company focused on creating films, campaigns and news reports about pressing human rights, society issues in South Africa; He has directed and produced nearly 10 films that have played on local tv stations such as Mzansi Bio-Scope and been broadcast globally, including the feature Comedy SIPHO THE PRESIDENT , Sipho an ambitious security guard decided to become a President of South Africa. He leaves his job and pursue his dream but things don’t go as he planned. And educational film called USHUNI, based on the story of a man who has a dream to become a successful Maskandi artist, the film take its audience through his journey and all the obstacles he faces as he seeks to make a name for himself in the world of music. With special appearances from famous Maskandi music singers.
Sandile Shange grew up in Vryheid, KZN, spent few years in Durban hustling and studying and moved to the place of Gold witha remarkable theatre skills. Since then, Shange has made his mark on the world of film making, working with Mzansi Bio-scope, Mzansi Wethu, Soweto TV and 1KZN. Initially wanting to be a male nurse, He changed his mind to give film a chance, in 1998 after joining local theatre group called BHEKUZULU WORKSHOPS.
Having made his name as one of South Africa’s most acclaimed Film makers, producer and directors, Sandile Shange transitioned seamlessly into Maskandi music video director, where his instinct and flair for African music culture has been in demand with everyone from well-known Khuzani to Amatshitshi amhlophe to Cevuzile. Recent accolades includes best director, Durban Metro Film Awards.
He’s now matured filmmaker, and perhaps the most stylish Maskandi music Video producer.
