GCWALISA IMABHIDA MASKANDI CONCERT

Maskandi star Khuzani Mpungose surprised everyone last year when he announced the Gwalis’imabhida concert. Many people on social media platforms communicated their doubts about the event but those comments did not stop Khuzani.

Indlamlenze Development Foundation(Khuzani’s company) is on a mission to extend and grow the maskandi music genre. Khuzani says “This is an event that inspires maskandi singers and fans and brings people closer to each other. The event is to develop unity amongst artists.”

On media statement released on the 21st of February 2019, Ayanda Melansi confirmed that the event is not limited to maskandi, it is going to accommodate other genres.

IT’S official: multi award-winning Gqom maestro DJ Tira will share the stage with top Maskandi acts at the much-awaited #GwalisaiMabhida mega concert on 30 March 2019.

Indlamlenze Development Foundation can officially confirm that Gqom maestro DJ Tira will form part of the line-up for the #GcwalisaIMabhida Maskandi Concert.

The event is set to cement the status of maskandi music as South Africa’s fastest-growing musical genre, which is loved by South Africans of all persuasions, cutting across geographical, class and ethnic boundaries.

Music lovers who will attend the concert are in for an experience of a lifetime, as they will not only watch Khuzani Indlamlenze Mpungose make history by filling up this huge stadium; but they will also get to feast on an unforgettable live music extravaganza featuring various genres such as gqom’, house, and umbhaqanga.

DJ Tira who’s music industry experience spans over a decade says #GcwalisaiMabhida will also be a celebration of maskandi taking its rightful place as a unique, respectable, worthy, universal and proudly African genre in the country.

DJ Tira says he is extremely excited to be part of this event as it clearly shows that music is indeed universal and can co-exist between cross genre’s.
