Playing for Pink Ladies with Edith Venter.
1) What has hosting the Cell C Playing for Pink Ladies Invitational Polo meant to you over the past three years?
The most exciting thing that has happened is how the event has grown over the 3 years. It has become one of the most sought-after events on the social calendar.
Through our business of events we always endeavour to support charity organisations and Reach for Recovery is very close to my heart because of the amazing work that these volunteers do for women who are going through the trauma of breast cancer. Therefore, to be able to raise funds for them is an absolute privilege and is the least we can do.
We cannot organise and run this day without all our amazing partners – most of which have been with us from Year 1.
We cannot thank them enough for making this dream come true
2) What has the impact been in raising funds for Reach for Recovery?
I do believe that for Reach for Recovery the impact is sizeable as they need funding to do the work
they do. They rely very heavily on support from corporates and events such as the Cell C Playing for Pink.
Funding from this event goes to their Ditto Project and I encourage everyone to go to their website and understand whtat this does for women who cannot afford the privilege of reconstruction after surgery. It gives the woman balance, dignity and hope.
3) How can the public, guests in attendance at the event and those that are not able to attend, get involved in this great initiative?
They are welcome to contact my office at 011 783 5887 or email me on firstname.lastname@example.org and I will be happy to assist them. They are also welcome to visit the Reach for Recovery website https://www.reach4recovery.org.za/ and see what projects they would like to support.
4) A whopping R100 000 was raised for Reach for Recovery in 2016. What is the goal this year?
Last year, we doubled what we raised the first year. This year we would love to add another R50 000 and keep doubling the amount every year.
5) What can our readers (women and men alike) do to further raise awareness around breast cancer?
Get involved – there are so many ways to do so. If you have been through breast cancer, speak about it, help further to raise awareness. Go for regular mammograms and screenings and constantly monitor any changes in your breasts.
6) You are a very stylish and elegant woman. What are the staple items that are must haves at this years polo?
Remember to wear the touch of pink – the theme this year is Pink Garden and the Inanda Club will be turned into one very large pink garden.
Comfortable shoes as we encourage you to stomp the divots during the exciting ladies polo game that will be played.
Sunglasses and hat are always handy accessories.
A big heart and a generous wallet are important items too !!!
It is such a fabulous day including so many lifestyle activities from fashion by NN Vintage to entertainment by Mafikizolo and Rouge. Our pop up stores are a must to visit because anything you might have forgotten can be purchased.
Our sponsors from CellC, Inanda Club, By Word of Mouth will make sure you are well taken care of and you will not go home hungry.
Our partners from Jaguar Bryanston will transport you in style and your will be well watered by Diageo and their wonderful brands together with Valdo champagne and many other delicious treats and drinks.
