Father’s Day at Sun City will be marked in authentic South African style, with food and fun that reflects the laid back yet adventurous spirit of local dads. From eating locally inspired food and test driving luxury cars, to tasting imported whiskies and cigars, there is a super charged choice of things to do.
The resort’s famous Shebeen summons all dads through the sound of African beats to a mouthwatering buffet decorated with chicken leg quarters; pap; beer and all things South African. Known for its local food and beer, this chesa nyama menu is guaranteed to appeal to the hearts, souls and stomachs of dads and their loved ones. Take a seat in a casual setting as the potjie pots simmer on fires around you. Served from the pots, are pap, shebo, corn on the cob, baby potatoes, butternut and braised cabbage – all made the delicious, traditional way.
The Father’s Day buffet lunch at the Shebeen costs R250 per adult, R90 per child aged 6 to 11 years of age and R0 per child aged 3 to 5 years. Sun MVG guests pay R180 per person when redeeming leisure points. Lunch is served from 12h00 to 17h00 on 17 June and regrettably no under 18s are permitted at the Shebeen after 18h00.
Sun Terrace at Soho will also be celebrating dads with a Father’s Day lunch, featuring lamb on the spit and an extensive buffet of scrumptious sides and popular desserts. No booking is required for the lunch, available on 17 June between 12h00 and 15h00. The cost per adult is R295, per child aged 6 to 11 is R95 and kids under 5 eat for free. The whiskey tasting with The Glenlivet and cigar tutorials will take place from 18h00 until late at the Luma Bar and Lounge at Cascades on 16 June. The BMW Legacy Motor Group Car Show will also be taking place over the Father’s Day weekend from 15 to 17 June 2018. There will be a pop-up dealership in The Crater where there will be a range of BMWs, Minis and Motorrads on display as well as sales services. Times are from 12h00 to 19h00 on the Friday; 09h00 to 18h00 on the Saturday and 09h00 to 13h00 on the Sunday. Guests will also have the opportunity to test drive various BMW and Mini models at the BMW Test Drive Station at the Gary Player Country Club parking area during the course of the weekend. At Sun Central, there will be cars on display as well as a Motorrad Virtual experience. For movie buffs, there will be a Mini Movie Night experience; the movie to be screened at Sun Movies at 22h30 on the Friday and Saturday night is The Italian Job. Fitness fanatics can take part in the CrossFit Competition on the Soho lawns from 10h00 on the Saturday to stand a chance to win fabulous prizes.
For dads who like some outdoor adventure, the choices are diverse; from playing golf on two world class golf courses; thrilling activities such as Drift Trikes, Hovercrafts and a 4×4 quad challenge at Adrenalin Extreme to water sports at Waterworld; viewing the big five on vehicle safaris; guided bush walks at the nearby Pilanesberg National Park and the new Bike Park, a multi-wheel, asphalt pump track for bikes and skateboards.
