Style, Entertainment and Good Food at Gold Reef City’s Back O’ The Moon
Situated in Gauteng’s favored entertainment destination Gold Reef City, the Back O’ The Moon’s 20 years in food service has resulted to an exclusive getaway, within the gaming jungle. What sets it apart is; its replication of the iconic 1950 Sophiatown shebeen. With no compromise on top of the range detailing elements, the 1950 unique furniture style, ceiling design, and the flooring, compliment the inspired idea behind the venue. Of course a 1950, Sophiatown shebeen experience would be incomplete without accommodating music. At the Back O’ The Moon, guests enjoy gourmet cuisines and conversations over a live band music performance. The sounds of jazz and soft RnB simple take you back.
Director General of the Back O’ The Moon, Mike Page describes the venue as a perfect reason for a night out, “being in operation for over two decades, this spot remains the ideal venue for a unique dining experience. Visitors are not only offered the best in entertainment, but they also have the opportunity to celebrate special occasions, or treat their families”, he said.
The menu, headed by executive Chef Vaughn Assam, comprises of original local dishes blended with exclusive detail. Old school peri-peri chicken grilled on the open flame, Avocado on a Molasses Fillet with black pepper & mustard sauce, Basil fillet steak served with parmesan & basil butter, as well as Grilled calamari in lemon butter, are some of the dishes guests can chose from.
Back O’ The Moon also features the Moonlight Lounge that caters for those who’d rather indulge in chic cognac and cigars instead.
Mike Page, added that, “it is important to have such an important part of our history recaptured, it is important to have a venue that offers a memorable experience too”.
