Sun Arena, Menlyn Maine brings us Classics is Groot 2018!
The long-awaited Classics is Groot-concert has arrived and boy was it a great show!
Plenty of effort went into the organizing – from the singers, to the dancers, orchestra, lightning and décor. Young and old alike came to listen to songs from years gone by. There were songs from the musicals, rock and roll, as well as classical masters.
The Sun Arena is really a great venue. It is well laid out and the service is excellent. When you go there (and, like me, it is your first time), it is noticeable how easy and well-organized it is to get in and out of the arena.
Back to the show. A number of local artists like Jannie Moolman, Charl du Plessis, Corlea Botha, Joseph Clark, to name a few, performed, as well as the young lady from Holland – Armira – who astounded audiences all over the world with her phenomenal voice. The show-stopper this year was international artist and much-loved Italian singer Patrizio Buanne.
Patrizio is a baritone, multiplatinum sensation from Europe. He was born in Vienna, Austria, but spent his time between Vienna and Naples (where his parents came from). He has a very versatile style and no, does not see himself as a romantic crooner (although he loves putting his own twist on classics), but rather as the ambassador of the Italian songbook.
For those of you who love his music as much as me, then keep your eyes and ears open. Patrizio will be returning to our shores in the very near future to promote his latest album, Italianissimo!
To everyone at Sun Arena, to all the artists, the stage crew, lightning crew, sound crew and the cast, bravo! Thank you for a great show!
