Taste Joburg’s finest gin every ‘First Saturday’.
Born out of a passion to share her alchemy creations with her community, Johannesburg’s first distillery, Time Anchor Distillery, founded in 2013 by Owner and Chief Distiller, Shanna-Rae Wilby will, on Saturday, 1 June initiate their ‘First Saturday’ gin tasting experience at the Distillery in Maboneng.
Every first Saturday of the month, gin connoisseurs will have the opportunity to visit the distillery and learn about, explore and taste the different exclusive special gins. ‘First Saturday’ tastings will kick-start, titled: “Meet the Maker – Gin Connoisseur Tastings”.
“The demand for these tastings have been growing and growing,” said Shana-Rae. “The initial tastings were never meant to be a monthly thing, but our Mirari community have been asking that we have more of the tastings because they want to invite their friends to come explore our distillery, and our variety of gins,” she added.
The gin tastings follow a formal, sit down, taste and discuss format, allowing guests to ask questions and engage about the three different liquids the distillery has to offer, namely; Mirari Blue Orient Spice, a gin that magically changes colour with well-defined Juniper notes, immediately followed by crisp citrus notes of Grapefruit and Lemon, all underpinned by Mixed Spice; Mirari Pink Damask Rose Gin, a signature botanical gin with a good balance between the tart juniper and the sweet flavours of rose and liquorice root; and the Mirari African Botanical Gin, with well-defined Fynbos notes, immediately followed by rousing Citrus notes of Sweet Orange, all underpinned by subtle hints of Juniper. This will be followed by a perfect serve from Mirari’s Limited Edition Celebration Gin infused with 23-carat gold flakes.
“The South Arican gin market is growing immensely and this market has always been discerning as they now want to know where their gins come from. This makes these tastings a great platform for any gin lover to come get educated and ask the relevant questions as we educate consumers about this delectable liquid”, added Shana-Rae.
There are only 20 spaces available to attend the tastings. For more information: http://bit.ly/MirariGinTasting
