The Terminator is back!
James Cameron confirms that action megastar Arnold Schwarzenegger will be taking on the iconic role once again for the sixth instalment of the sci-fi franchise.
The new film will be a direct sequel to the 1992 blockbuster hit T2 (Terminator Judgement Day) and will also feature the original Sarah Connor character played by Linda Hamilton. Coming off the back of the last Terminator film titled Genesis (which didn’t fair well at the box office) this project is being produced by Cameron himself who assures fans that he will have more input in this film than the previous attempts where others had tried so desperately to recreate his unique vision (Jonathan Mostow, McG)
Since Cameron is actually busy making 73 sequels to his other smash hit film Avatar, the job of directing will go to animator, visual effects veteran and producer Tim Miller, who’s first stab at directing with the Marvel Movie Deadpool has shown that he at least has a knack for the job (Deadpool was a huge success in 2018) and feature newcomers Mackenzie Davis (Blade Runner 2049), Gabrielle Luna (Agents of SHIELD), Natalie Reyes (Birds of Passage) and Diego Boneta (Scream Queens).
Little is known about the plot at this stage but what we do know is that the movie will be hitting screens on 13 November 2019, and Arnie is back to fill the iconic role once again (probably for the last time) The narrative remains a mystery but we should see further details and most probably a trailer release in the upcoming months – we can definitely expect tons of action and the odd laugh or two as humans battle cybernetic organisms sent from Skynet or, as they battle each other… who knows how time travel will influence the tale.
