Top Virus A Music Trio on the Lime Light.
Top virus is a Kwaito group made of Siyanda Sibiya (Pillos) 26yrs, Thobelani Sibiya (Percy) 25yrs and Ntokozo Biyela (Lovelase) 23yrs. The trio originates from Zondela Township in Ulundi. Our music journey began in 2013 when we met in studio doing our solo projects, and it just happen that we clicked, and we decided to work together and make good music. The strong relationship made us record songs together and we formed a group.
We started performing together in taverns and sheebeens and people loved our songs, we then decided to take this music business serious as we could see that we are talented. We contributed some money for studio time, it wasn’t easy as we were depending on our siblings for studio money but through dedication and persistence we finally finished a project which had 12 tracks and we had to print CD’s to sell on our own.
In 2015 we released our first album titled FIRST ATTACK, which we were selling wherever we were performing. We mostly sold it in taxi ranks in Ulundi, Nongoma, Melmoth, Nkandla, Nquthu, and Vryheid. That is how we made our name in these places, and that is how we lived our daily life which is through music. What pushed us even more is that people were so supportive they liked our music and they bought our cd’s
Late in 2015 we met with our current manager, who saw us performing in Ulundi plaza and he liked our music. We sat down with him and told him our vision and dreams, which is to make it big in the music industry and to take our music nationally. That is how everything changed; he bought us our own studio equipment where we would record our music anytime and without having to worry about money to pay studio time.
We started recording our own music at our own time and pace; we were free and happy to finally own our own studio. Our creativity received a boost hence we recorded our first smash hit titled IMALI ENINGI.
This song has opened a lot of doors for us, for the first time our song is played in the biggest radio stations in the country. Ukhozi fm, Igagasi fm and almost all community radio stations are playing this song.
We then wanted to take our music even further up and we decided to make a music video for our song, but the challenge is that quality music videos are expensive. That didn’t discourage us in having our own music video though. We knocked few doors locally asking for donations and were lucky to finally get the required funds

In February this year we went to Johannesburg to shoot our first music video for the song IMALI ENINGI. Because of the quality of music and music video the song is playing on almost all TV broadcasters. The song has been on high rotation on Live amp (SABC 1), Club 808(e-TV), MTV Base, Channel O, Trace TV, Soweto TV, 1KZN. This song can also be viewed n YouTube, where it has more than 20 000 views which is very good for new artists. That also shows that many people love the song hence so many views.
We have performed in big stages and shared the stage with big and successful artists such as Big Nuz, DJ Tira, Proffessor and many more. We have also performed in big brands events like the Soft n Free event which was held in Durban late last year. In this event we shared the stage with the big female artist Babes Wodumo.
The success of our song IMALI ENINGI has open doors for us even in our neighboring countries. We had an enquiry from a recording company from Mozambique called Beyond Talent who wanted to have collaboration with us. We did just that and we have a song now with Lloyd Kappas (Mozambique) called Wombolo. This song has already been released in Mozambique courtesy of Beyond Talents, and the feedback we are receiving is that the song is doing very well there, it is receiving huge radio play and overwhelming support from the general public.
We also plan to release this song here in South Africa soon
